Sabor do Ano y Sabor à Prova (Flavour of the Year and Tasting Test)
Sabor do Ano (Flavour of the Year) is the only taste-based quality certification process for food products in the Portuguese market. Through sensory analysis in the form of blind taste tests, consumers are asked to evaluate food products, rating them on their flavour. The products which rank the highest are awarded the Flavour of the Year seal of quality, adding value in terms of sales and prestige for the products exhibited. The collaboration between Flavour of the Year and Alimentaria&Horexpo Lisboa led to the creation of Tasting Test, which allows exhibitors to submit their products for evaluation, receiving a sensory analysis report at the end.
Exhibitors that present their products as candidates for the 2011 and 2012 Flavour of the Year seal of quality will also benefit from special terms and conditions.

Produto do Ano (Product of the Year)
The Product of the Year award is presented annually to new products based on their innovativeness and added value for the consumer. It is the consumers themselves who choose the products they consider the most innovative. The purpose of including Product of the Year in the trade fair is to show manufacturers, representatives and other participants the added value and importance this award provides at the point-of-sale, and highlight the influence it has on consumers' purchase decisions.
Registration for the eighth edition of the Product of the Year competition begins on 1 March 2011. The competition is open to mass-market products launched or reintroduced in the 18 months prior to the start date for registration. Alimentaria&Horexpo Lisboa 2011 exhibitors that enter their products will be exempt from registration fees for the Product of the Year competition and receive the consumer's innovation study from 2005 to 2010 and the major conclusions reached by 2011.
